negative   
  A negative number is a number less than zero.  Negative numbers are graphed on the negative side of a number line.
non-commensurate   
  Two measurements are called non-commensurate if no whole number multiple of one measurement can ever equal a whole number multiple of the other.  For example, measures of 1 cm and pic cm are non-commensurate, because no combination of items 1 cm long will ever have exactly the same length as a combination of items pic cm long.
numeral   
  A symbol that names a number.  For example, each of these is a numeral: 22.6, −19, 0.
